ERA 1: The Early Years
When we first started writing Bible studies for Sojo in 2019, the focus was primarily on foundational spiritual growth. The Bible studies during this period were intended to help the student build a strong base for their faith. Topics like being disciplined for godliness and putting God first were central themes, laying the groundwork for deeper spiritual exploration.
ERA 2: Spiritual Growth Through Discipline Era
The theme of these Bible studies was to emphasize how various spiritual practices and disciplines can lead to a transformed and deepened relationship with God. Each study focuses on a different aspect of spiritual discipline, showing how integrating these practices into daily life can foster significant spiritual growth and transformation.
ERA 3: The Crisis Era
As the world faced the unprecedented challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, Sojo Academy pivoted its focus to address the crisis at hand. This period, aptly named the "Crisis Era," saw a shift towards understanding God's sovereignty and character. Bible studies during this time were designed to help members navigate the uncertainty and fear brought about by the pandemic. The studies delved into historical and biblical women who faced crisis, offering biographical insights that were both timely and inspiring. This era underscored the importance of turning to God during times of turmoil and uncertainty.
ERA 4: Stand Your Ground Era
As the world began to adjust to a new normal post-2020, the focus shifted to standing firm in faith amidst a changing world. This era's Bible studies were geared towards becoming a light in the darkness. Topics included becoming battle ready, living complete in Christ, and proclaiming the gospel with confidence. The study of books like James, Colossians, and Ruth provided a rich tapestry of scriptural insights designed to help members stand firm in their faith.
ERA 5: Spiritual Formation Era
In 2022, Sojo Academy moved into a period focused on spiritual formation and practical application of biblical principles. This era emphasized how to apply the lessons learned from previous studies to real-world issues like depression and anxiety. The studies were designed to provide practical tools for dealing with these challenges from a faith-centered perspective. Books like Proverbs were studied in-depth to extract wisdom applicable to everyday life. This era was all about making faith practical and actionable, helping members to cultivate confidence and resilience in their spiritual walk.
ERA 6: Bible Study Methods Era
2023 is one of Jen and AJ’s favorite eras, when, the focus shifted to exploring even more deeply various methods of studying the Bible. This included topical studies, chapter analysis, and book study approaches. By using different methods to study the same passage, members are encouraged to deepen their understanding and find new ways to engage with Scripture. Studies on books like Romans, Nehemiah, Esther, and Galatians have been particularly impactful, offering diverse approaches to understanding God's Word.
ERA 7: Sojo Strong Era
As we moved into 2024, Sojo Academy introduced us to the "Sojo Strong era." This era aims to build a strong community of women who go beyond Bible study to focus on comprehensive spiritual growth. While Bible study remains a foundational component, the emphasis is on understanding the Word of God in a broader context and being in community with one another. The goal is to become "Sojo Strong," embodying the women of God we are meant to be through Christ. This era is all about fostering a supportive community that encourages spiritual growth and a well-lived life.
We are excited about what the future will hold for Sojo and would love for you to join us in our next Era!
