Welcome back! Today's discussion is about the fruit of goodness.
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control; against such things there is no law.”
In today’s episode, Jen and AJ had a conversation about:
- What does it mean to do good?
- How to keep doing good even when there’s evil around;
- What is it that we're after when we define something as good?
- Difference between goodness and kindness
… and MUCH MUCH MORE!
We know that actions are not what save us. It's only the grace of God. But this fruit of goodness, as it develops in us, is almost always outwardly expressed in our actions… even more than kindness!
Nowadays, when we try to stand up for Christ or take a stand for what we believe in, we become a target, whether it's on social media or in real life. Our takeaways from this week are: continue to trust, don't fret because of the evil doers, trust that God is good, sovereign and in control, and DO GOOD!
Our challenge for all of us listening today is to read and meditate on Psalm 37:1–9.
“Be not envious towards wrongdoers for, they will wither quickly light the grass and fade like the green herb.
Trust in the Lord and do good;
Dwell in the land and cultivate faithfulness.”
We are given instruction in the Word to do good.
Reflect on the good you do. Is it based on society’s standards or God’s?

NOTABLE QUOTES
“Goodness is the very character of God. That's the standard. When I think about what is good in the world, If it's not tethered to the gospel, then is it really good?” - Jen Evangelista.
“If we're confused, or allowing culture to tell us what is good, we need to just go back to the basics of scripture and let our definition of what is good be redefined by what we find there. A great place to start is with the 10 commandments.” - Arabah Joy.
“Goodness is love in action.” - Ray Pritchard
